September 11, 2015 – KGS TraumaFX® K9 Medical Trainer Featured in Military Publication
KGS’ TraumaFX® K9 Medical Trainer - HERO debuted on the front page of Tailspinner, the official newspaper for Joint Base San Antonio - Lackland. Veterinary technicians from the Daniel E. Holland Military Working Dog Hospital were the first to demonstrate opening an airway on HERO; just one of the eight medical interventions on the canine simulator.
HERO is a full-body K9 medical trainer for Military Working Dog (MWD) handlers, K9 Trauma Responders, Veterinarians, and veterinary technicians. Designed in partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD), HERO is a state of the art skills trainer for novices and experienced alike. All training sites have been created with realism in mind to best replicate the look, feel and function of actual medical procedures. The exterior of the simulator has been hand-sculpted to mimic a Belgian Malinois and is covered in a durable, non-staining synthetic fur. K9 HERO functions as a multi-purpose tool allowing learners to perform critical life-saving tasks such as maintaining an airway, needle decompression/thoracocentesis, hemostasis, IV insertion, intraosseous infusion, CPR, tracheostomy, and bandaging on a simulator.
K9 HERO incorporates the Canine Tactical Combat Casualty Care (C-TCCC) guidelines.
